- Remove Hard Plaque. Next, we use some hand tools to get rid of plaque from places that are hard to reach.
- Polish. We use a special kind of toothpaste to scrub away any stains and make your teeth smooth and shiny.

What Our Manchester Hygiene Patients Say
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is suitable for Dental Hygiene?
We strongly recommend that all of our dental patients schedule a visit with our dental hygienist to tailor a personalized plan for routine professional teeth cleanings.
Achieving the best dental hygiene is crucial for preventative care of your teeth and gums, ensuring your smile remains vibrant for the long haul while also guarding against common oral problems like severe tooth decay, infections, gum disease, and halitosis.
What is a Dental Hygienist?
According to the NHS, dental hygienists play a crucial role within the dental team, focusing on preventing dental issues in both adults and children.
Much like dentists, dental hygienists aim to preserve their patients' teeth as the best possible outcome. They assess a patient's oral health through a thorough examination, looking at the health of both teeth and gums. It's vital to keep you informed about how problems like plaque, decay, tartar, bad breath, and bacteria can lead to more serious dental problems, ensuring your dental health over the long term.
How long is a Dental Hygiene appointment?
Our Lounge Refresh™ appointment is 30 minutes, designed for regular maintenance. Our Lounge Signature™ and Lounge Stain Detox™ appointments are each 60 minutes, allowing time for EMS AIRFLOW® treatment and a more comprehensive clean. If you attend regularly, the 30-minute appointment is usually ideal. For patients with a longer gap between visits or heavier staining, we recommend one of our 60-minute options.
How much does a Dental Hygiene appointment cost?
Our Lounge Refresh™ appointment (30 minutes) is £80, ideal for routine maintenance. Our Lounge Signature™ appointment (60 minutes) is £160 and our Lounge Stain Detox™ appointment (60 minutes) is £175. Both include EMS AIRFLOW® treatment. We also offer Memberships that include regular hygiene visits and additional benefits.
How often should you see a Dental Hygienist?
The ideal frequency for your dental hygiene visits will be accurately assessed and recommended following your first consultation with your dentist. Typically, we suggest check-ups every six months with both your dentist and hygienist to ensure your mouth and smile remain in good health.
How do Hygienists remove plaque?
Our dental hygienists use specialised hand-held tools and advanced systems to eliminate plaque from hard-to-reach spots. Should you wish to take a look at our state-of-the-art equipment before starting your treatment with us, please feel free to reach out to us for a clinic tour.
